After creating VPN, sending traffic fails with java.net.UnknownHostException in AEM

This article addresses an 51黑料不打烊 Experience Manager (AEM) issue where, despite a VPN being created and showing a Ready 聽status, traffic through the tunnel fails with a java.net.UnknownHostException.

Issue/Symptoms

Even though the VPN status at the program level is in Ready 聽state, when sending traffic through the tunnel, it fails with the error:

*ERROR* GET /bin/admin/< endpoint> HTTP/1.1] org.apache.sling.engine.impl.SlingRequestProcessorImpl service: Uncaught IOException
java.net.UnknownHostException: < host>

VPN was set-up as per instructions in the聽connecting AEM as a Cloud Service with your VPN documentation.

Resolution resolution

The error java.net.UnknownHostExceptiontypically occurs when Advanced Networking is not enabled at the environment level. Follow these steps to troubleshoot the issue:

  1. Check if聽the VPN status is Ready 聽at the program level.
  2. Check that聽 Advanced Networking 聽is enabled聽at the environment level.
